Participating in the Africa Education Medal is not just about winning an award. It's about joining a community of passionate educators, innovators, and leaders transforming education in Africa. 

It's about gaining recognition for your hard work and dedication, finding a global platform to amplify your work, and inspiring others to follow in your footsteps. It's about making a difference.

Eligibility

The Africa Education Medal is open to individuals who are making significant contributions to pre-kindergarten, K-12, vocational, and university education in Africa. This includes educators, school administrators, civil society leaders, public servants, government officials, political leaders, and technologists.

How to nominate

If you are nominating someone else, make sure you have their permission to share their contact details when nominating them.

The nomination itself is done on a form provided on our website during the nominations window. Nominators can preview the questions in the form before submitting them, and will need to include a brief description of the nominee's qualifications and a detailed explanation of their impact on education in Africa.

All nominations are reviewed by our Jury, made up of leaders and experts in the field.

Anyone aged 18 years or older can nominate. You can nominate yourself or someone else.

No, the Medal will only be awarded to an individual.

Yes, you can make more than one nomination. Please fill out a different form per nomination.

This is not a required condition. The nominee can reside in Africa, or not, but you need to prove that the impact of your nominee’s work is in Africa, in at least one country.

This is not a required condition. All countries of origin are accepted, but we require proof that the impact of your nominee’s work is within Africa, in at least one country.

In order to nominate a changemaker, please note, you must have their permission to share their contact details.

We require links to evidential information, such as photos, videos, articles, publications, media coverage, webpages, and more. You can upload up to six links through the form. This will enable us to assess the impact and scope of the work of the nominee.

If you are nominating yourself, we request that you provide us with a referee and its contact details in case we need to verify your nomination. Please make sure you provide us with an email address where we can contact your referee.

No, we include the whole spectrum of education. Nominees can work from Pre-K, K-12, University to Vocational Institutions.

People over 18 years old can nominate and be nominated.

We don’t request a particular type of relationship between nominator and nominee to be able to make a nomination. However, we do require the nominator to provide a valid email address to contact the nominee. We will have to inform them about the nomination and ask their consent to enter the competition. Please make sure you provide us with an email address where we can contact your nominee.

If you are nominating someone else, you need to have permission to share their contact details. Once you submit the nomination, we will email your nominee to confirm their consent to take part in this competition.

The winner will be awarded the Africa Education Medal. The winner will receive this medal through a virtual ceremony.
