Leo Schlesinger is the former CEO of Aliat Universidades, an integrated group of
seven higher education institutions operating across 27 campuses in 13 states in Mexico, all supported by a state-of-the-art online platform. Aliat serves over 50,000 students and has graduated over 250,000 alumni. Under his leadership, Aliat has become one of Mexico's largest private higher education systems, focusing on delivering quality and relevant education and improving social mobility and accessibility for marginalised communities nationwide.
Schlesinger has pioneered personalised learning approaches and data-driven
interventions at Aliat Universidades, leading to notable improvements in student
performance, retention, and graduation rates. Aliat has implemented one of the
country's most extensive adaptive learning methodologies and technologies,
resulting in a more than 25% improvement in learning outcomes.
In recognition of its innovative efforts, Aliat was honoured by the IFC/Financial
Times as one of the most innovative institutions in 2019, commending its
advancements in EdTech and its dedication to providing higher education
opportunities for working adults.
With over 14 years of experience as a young global leader at the World Economic
Forum, Schlesinger has chaired the Global Agenda Council on Sustainability. He is also a member of the Young Presidents' Organisation (YPO) in Mexico and chaired the Mexico City Chapter. Additionally, he served as Vice Chair of the Board at the American School Foundation and has been an adviser to many EdTechs in Latin America. Recently, he was appointed to the Board of Trustees of the University of London, which oversees some of the most distinguished universities in the UK, including the London School of Economics, London Business School, King's College, and UCL, among others.
Schlesinger's accolades include being named International Sustainable CEO of the Year by YPO in 2012 and a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2010. He also founded the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers community in Mexico.
Driven by a passion for personal development, Schlesinger authored "My Best Self" (Mi Mejor Yo), published by Pearson in 2018, which has sold over 95,000 copies. All proceeds were donated as scholarships for underprivileged higher education students. His personal development model is used in universities to empower students to become better citizens, professionals, and human beings.
