Nova Escola from Nova Escola Association

Nova Escola is a free digital educational platform that supports public school teachers across Brazil. The organisation’s mission is to ensure that every educator has free, continuous access to high-quality, relevant resources, with technology as a means to achieve educational equity. Aligned with the National Common Core Curriculum (BNCC), it offers an integrated solution that combines high-quality pedagogical content, continuous professional development, and practical tools—accessible via website, social media, and WhatsApp. With an average of approximately 2 million monthly visits and 845,000 registered teachers, it is one of the largest educational initiatives in the country focused on strengthening classroom practice.

Its flagship product is its lesson plans, which receive over 2.5 million monthly views. Nova Escola also provides free self-paced courses, journalistic content, and guides on key educational issues, supporting ongoing and context-aware professional growth.

Nova Escola has begun turning this wide range of content into a personalised experience powered by artificial intelligence. This includes a “WhatsApp planner powered by AI”—a tool that combines plain language, generative AI, and educator-built content library to generate tailored lesson plans for each teacher. In just a few clicks and using an accessible format, the teacher receives a full, standards-aligned plan (BNCC), personalised by grade, subject, and topic—all through WhatsApp, a channel already widely used by Brazilian educators.

Nova Escola is leveraging technology to democratise access to quality training, save teachers time, and strengthen their autonomy. The AI lesson plan generator, in particular, has expanded its reach to historically underrepresented groups and regions: 46% of its users identify as mixed-race (pardo), 15.35% as Black, and 1.72% as Indigenous. Additionally, the tool has increased engagement in Brazil’s North (13.6%) and Northeast (28.9%) regions, where its previous reach was lower (7.7% and 22%, respectively). This reflects the platform’s growing ability to promote equity and inclusiveness in teacher support across the country.

Present in all Brazilian states, Nova Escola positions itself as “the school of every public school teacher in Brazil.”
