Frizzle by Frizzle, Inc

Frizzle reads and grades students' handwritten work. A teacher photographs a stack of assignments with the Frizzle app, runs them through a school copier, or imports from LMS. Within minutes, Frizzle returns each student's work graded at the problem level, mapped to state and Common Core standards, with class-wide and student-level mastery data flowing back to teachers, coaches, and administrators.

The system combines patent pending computer vision trained on proprietary handwritten mathematical notation with language models that understand mathematical reasoning. Teachers stay in the loop where the model is uncertain, which is the part of AI deployment in classrooms that we think most tools get wrong.

The workflow was designed around what teachers already do, not against it. Students write on paper. Teachers grade in the way they were already going to grade. Frizzle sits in the gap between the paper and the school's data systems, doing the labour that previously required either hours of teacher time or a full migration to screens.

What teachers get back is hours. Teachers reported recovering 5.2 hours per week in their first month. What schools and districts get back is real-time data they previously had no way to access: daily standards-level mastery per student, per classroom, per grade, per school. Not waiting for the spring assessment to find out what fall instruction missed. Not relying on quarterly state benchmark tests as the only signal.

Frizzle currently supports all subjects in K-12 and college-level maths through a partnership with Vanderbilt University. Active deployments include Greenwich Public Schools, as our anchor K-12 customer, Hazelwood School District in St. Louis, and a growing pipeline of US public districts, US independent schools, UK schools, and international schools. The White House have recognized Frizzle as an official AI Education Partner, alongside OpenAI and Google.

The deeper purpose, beyond hours saved and data delivered, is to demonstrate that AI in education does not have to mean more screen time for students or replacing teachers. The most underused asset in classrooms is the paper that's already there. Frizzle is the infrastructure to put it to work.
