Scratch Tactile Ecosystem by Sistema THEAD, SCCL
Scratch Tactile Ecosystem is an inclusive EdTech solution that enables children from the age of four to learn coding, robotics and electronics through a hybrid tangible–digital experience. Designed from the outset according to accessibility and Universal Design for Learning principles, it allows children with and without disabilities to explore technology together, using multiple ways to perceive information, interact and express ideas.
The ecosystem combines physical coding materials, an accessible web application, educational robotics, an accessible electronic board and classroom-ready learning resources. Through Tactile Jr and Tactile Jr Cards, children build programmes physically using visual, tactile and easy-to-orientate coding elements. They can create stories, sequences, games and interactive projects without initially depending on screens, reading skills or complex digital interfaces.
The Tactile Jr App extends this hands-on experience into the digital environment. Learners can create and run projects, connect physical coding sequences with digital outcomes and control a growing range of educational robots. This progression helps children understand the relationship between instructions, actions and computational concepts while maintaining a playful, creative and collaborative learning experience.
Diversi.bit, the ecosystemʼs accessible electronic board for micro:bit, expands learning into electronics and physical computing. Its larger, clearer and more accessible design helps learners interact with inputs, outputs and electronic components that can otherwise be difficult to manipulate or understand.
Scratch Tactile Ecosystem also provides educational activities, implementation guidance, teacher training and ongoing support. Educators can introduce the solution gradually and adapt its use to different ages, abilities, learning objectives and classroom contexts.
Rather than offering a single device or isolated activity, Scratch Tactile Ecosystem creates a coherent learning pathway from screen-free tangible coding to digital creation, robotics and electronics. It supports the development of computational thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration, problem-solving and learner autonomy, making digital education more accessible, meaningful and participatory.
