Amira is an evidence-based tool, grounded in the Science of Reading. Amira uses advanced voice recognition technology to analyse sounds as students read aloud, with a digital avatar providing friendly assistance. Typically, students use Amira 20 to 30 minutes per week in sessions that feel like practice, not a test.

As students read aloud in English or Spanish or both, Amira listens and measures skills through oral reading, capturing patterns, successes, and miscues. Using advanced, modern psychometrics, Amira assesses reading development and adjusts the difficulty and type of task the students engage with in real time.

Amira analyses every word spoken, measuring skills that truly matter for how the brain learns to read. Amira also detects errors with expert accuracy and identifies early indicators of reading risk. Importantly, Amira adjusts dynamically to keep students in the proximal zone, maintaining accuracy across all ability levels and reducing boredom and fatigue.

Teachers can use real-time insights to identify student needs instantly and modify instruction scores and to see which areas a student is excelling in or needs more attention.

The teacher dashboard provides clear recommendations designed to inform instruction and interventions. Insights about student needs are mapped across the strands of the Reading Rope, with a visual representation of current mastery, what’s next, and areas with the potential for improvement. The standards mastery report offers a granular view of ongoing student progress tied to state reading standards, which supports planning and instructional decisions.

At the school and district levels, Amira offers an admin dashboard that serves as a central hub for monitoring usage, progress, and growth across schools and classrooms as well as at the district level. This provides administrators with full visibility into implementation.
