Who can submit a nomination?

Anyone beyond 18 years old can nominate. You can nominate yourself or someone else.

Can I nominate an organisation?

No, the Medal will only be awarded to an individual.

Can I nominate more than one individual?

Yes, you can make more than one nomination. Please fill out a different form per nomination.

When is the nomination deadline?

Nominations closed on April 13th, 2023.

Does the nominee have to reside in Africa?

This is not a required condition. The nominee can reside in Africa, or not, but you need to prove that the impact of your nominee’s work is in Africa, in at least one country.

Does the nominee have to be born in Africa?

This is not a required condition. All countries of origin are accepted, but we require proof  that the impact of your nominee’s work is within Africa, in at least one country.

What do I need to do to submit a nomination?

In order to nominate a changemaker, please note, you must have their permission to share their contact details.

We require links to evidential information, such as photos, videos, articles, publications, media coverage, webpages, and more. You can upload up to six links through the form. This will enable us to assess the impact and scope of the work of the nominee.

If you are nominating yourself, we request that you provide us with a referee and its contact details in case we need to verify your nomination. Please make sure you provide us with an email address where we can contact your referee.

Is the nominee required to work at a specific level of education?

No, we include the whole spectrum of education. Nominees can work from Pre-K, K-12, University to Vocational Institutions.

Is there any age limit for nominees?

People over 18 years old can nominate and be nominated.

Do I have to have an existing relationship with my nominee?

We don’t request a particular type of relationship between nominator and nominee to be able to make a nomination. However, we do require the nominator to provide a valid email address to contact the nominee. We will have to inform them about the nomination and ask their consent to enter the competition. Please make sure you provide us with an email address where we can contact your nominee.

Do I need my nominee’s permission to submit the nomination?

If you are nominating someone else, you need to have permission to share their contact details. Once you submit the nomination, we will email your nominee to confirm their consent to take part in this competition.

What will be the winner awarded with?

The winner will be awarded the Africa Education Medal. The winner will receive this medal through a virtual ceremony.

Who will select the winner?

A Jury composed by prominent African leaders committed to education in Africa. Meet our Jury in our website.

When will the winner be announced?

The winner will be announced in July 2023.

What are the funding sources of the Africa Education Medal?

The Africa Education Medal is supported and funded by sponsorship and grant funding from organisations in the private sector.
