Darío Álvarez Klar

Founder and CEO Itínere Education Network

Argentina

Darío Álvarez Klar is the Founder of Itínere Education Network, which includes
schools across Argentina and Uruguay, totalling nearly 6,000 students and 1,400
staff. Its purpose is to create educational communities that inspire, promote equity, and offer quality education that prepares students to face the challenges of the 21st century. One of the fundamental pillars of Alvarez Klar’s work is building communities that enhance the impact of each institution. He promotes collaborative actions with universities, companies, and various entities, transforming schools into integrated work networks with these organisations.

Additionally, Álvarez Klar aims to turn classrooms into "laboratories" for experimentation. This initiative allows, in collaboration with associated professionals, the generation of action-research that improves educational practices within the network. Furthermore, whenever possible, these advancements and insights are shared with other institutions.

He began his career as a teacher at the age of 19, and after working as an educator, administrator, institutional adviser, and director of a publishing house, he embarked on the path of entrepreneurship in education.

Álvarez Klar is also the Executive Director and Founder of HUB Educación e
Innovación, a civil association dedicated to networking, research, and training in the educational ecosystem, with a strong presence in Argentina, Uruguay and Spain. HUB's goal is to establish a collaborative model of education, creating a community of learning where all stakeholders - authorities, professionals, students, organisations, government bodies, and businesses - work together to share inspiring ideas and drive positive change. Through HUB, over 20 events have been organised, including Hub.uy, which was declared of ministerial interest in 2023 and attracted 350 attendees, featuring 32 professional development spaces, workshops, and panels, with the participation of the Minister of Education and Culture of Uruguay. These events have served as vital platforms for dialogue and learning, transcending traditional educational boundaries by bringing together more than 1,000 companies and 100 speakers.

Through his work, he has sought to improve learning outcomes, promote equity,
expand access to education, and advance pedagogical and technological innovation. His approach focuses on creating and sustaining an educational system that actively promotes quality, up-to-date, and innovative education, to drive significant change in how teaching and learning are approached in his country and across the wider region. It also promotes collaborative work with various professional actors, organisations, and regional societal sectors, and building bridges to achieve increasingly better education with global impact.

He also leads Network Conversations: Education Connects Us, a podcast series
created by the Itínere Educational Network. The podcast fosters dialogue and the exchange of perspectives on education and innovation among educators, parents, youth, and interested individuals. With two seasons and 32 episodes, it has featured over 50 guests and reached the Top Five on Spotify, covering topics such as the meaning of learning, childhood agenda overload, uncertainty in education, and socialimpact entrepreneurship.
